The journey through the Manínska gorge in the district of Považňava is threatened by weathered rocks. After the road through the narrowest passing rock canyon in Slovakia partially covered the stones on Friday (7. 3.), the city called the city (12 March) to meet the crisis staff. Informed spokeswoman Iveta Pagáč Kováčiková.

The journey is used not only by the inhabitants of three villages behind the Manínská gorge (Záskalie, Kostolec, Vrchteplá), but is also a frequent access road for tourists to the National Nature Reserve. Also on the road there are connections of suburban bus transport. “The stones were dropped on Friday, the employees of the Road Administration of the Trenčín self -governing region cleaned them up, there are currently no traffic restrictions on the road“the spokeswoman added.

According to the permanent member of the crisis staff of the Považská Bystrica district of Vladimir White Slope above the road, it is geologically unstable, rocks are extremely weathered. According to him, the situation is dangerous, it is necessary to solve acute. The slope needs to be stabilized, otherwise it will become down sooner or later. The location is in a high degree of nature conservation.

“There are drinking water sources, hard construction work probably does not allow anyone to avoid damaging drinking water sources. It is more than 150-meter moraine slope, on foot you can not get there. We did a drone air survey, ordered a geologist who should comment on it and determine the workflow. It will be necessary to make a remediation project“he added, with the fact that from the point of view of geological composition it is a similar location as above the road near Strečno.
