Genetic material will undergo DNA tests, whose result should come out in approximately one month to determine whether it belongs to the 17 -year -old
Sao Paulo confirmed, on Monday (10), that traces of blood were found at the Toyota Corolla de Maicol Antonio Sales dos Santos, suspected of involvement in the death of the 17-year-old. The genetic material will undergo DNA tests, whose result should come out in approximately one month to determine whether to belong to the victim. Maicol was arrested on Saturday (8) on suspicion of participation in the crime.
According to the investigation, his car was seen near the place where Vitória disappeared. In addition, witnesses reported that they heard shouts from the suspect’s house on the night of the young woman’s disappearance. Delegate Luiz Carlos do Carmo, director of the Judicial Police Department of Macro São Paulo (Demacro), said that Maicol’s arrest represents a significant advance in the case. “We took a big step with the arrest of Maicol, one of the authors who practiced this barbarism,” he said.
Police also investigate the possibility of two other suspects being involved in the crime: Daniel Lucas Pereira and the ex-boyfriend of Vitória, Gustavo Vinícius Moraes. Daniel would have recorded the journey traveled by the young days before the crime, raising suspicions that the kidnapping was premeditated.
Amid the investigations, the name of the victim’s father, Carlos Alberto Souza, was even cited in a police report, generating speculation about his possible involvement. However, delegate Luiz Carlos do Carmo denied this hypothesis and categorically stated that he is not investigated. “There is no investigation against the victim’s father,” he said at a press conference.
Carlos Alberto Souza’s defense also denied any involvement of him in the crime and classified the citation in the report as “hasty”. Lawyer Fábio Costa stressed that his client was not formally heard by the police and that the reports are part of a preliminary phase of the investigation. The Civil Police continue to gather evidence to clarify the crime, including the possibility of sexual abuse against Vitória and the identification of the place where the girl was kept in captivity before being murdered. Investigations continue to determine the motivation of the crime and the participation of others involved.
