Sara Duterte accused the executive of the president and ancient ally in the 2022 elections, Ferdinand Marcos Jr, of delivering a Filipino citizen “to foreign powers.”

It is an “flagrant affront to our sovereignty,” he said.

Rodrigo Duterte landed today at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Filipine capital from Hong Kong at 09:20 (01:20 in Lisbon), where he was arrested and escorted by security forces out of the aerodrome.

The detention occurred after the ICT issued a warrant of capture for crimes against humanity, which was transmitted by Interpol to the Philippine authorities, according to a statement from the Philippine Presidential Office.

The detention stems from the Duterte War against the drug during his term (2016-2022), during which about 6,000 people were killed in anti-drug operations and due to extrajudicial executions, according to police data.

Filipine Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) reported that the number of victims ascends to more than 30,000 dead.
