The French Vigigent Agency will help Moldova reveal disinformation campaigns and protect democratic processes.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday was increasingly sentenced to “unscrupulous attempts to destabilize” the situation in Moldova. He said this during a meeting with Moldova President Maia Sandu in Paris, where they signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of detection of digital misinformation. According to AFP, TASR writes about it.

“We have decided to strengthen our cooperation again to increase Moldova’s resistance to foreign interference,” Macron said in signing an agreement. The Moldovan President said both countries have committed their forces to combat misinformation.

Agency will help protect government processes

Macron’s office made it clear that the French government agency for detecting digital disinformation campaigns (Vigigonum) will intensify cooperation with the Moldovan Strategic Communication Center, even to “protect election processes.”

Sandu won the presidential election last year and defended her mandate. The Moldovan security authorities regularly blamed Russia for trying to influence them with disinformation campaigns, buying votes, threats, cyber attacks and weighing voters. The Kremlin, on the other hand, accused Moldova of suppressing the opposition and independent media, especially Russian -language.

Despite the election of pro -Western sanduvoi, a large part of the country is still pro -Russian, especially in rural areas, separatist Russian language and autonomous areas of Gagausia in the south of the country.
