From March 12, when duties on the import of steel and aluminum into the US enter into force, they will be set at 50 %for Canada. For other states, they remain 25 %at the originally set level. Trump on his social network Truth Social said he ordered the trade minister to grow from 25 % to 50 % in the case of Canadian steel and aluminum. “In addition, Canada must immediately cancel duties of 250 % to 390 % on various US dairy products that have been considered outrageous for a long time,” Trump said. He also threatened a “significant increase in” import duties for cars from April 2, unless Canada cancels other “blatantly long -term duties”.
As far as electricity supplies are concerned, he informed that he would soon announce an emergency in the affected areas. Ontário supplies electricity to Minnesota, New York and Michigan.
