FEDERAL REVENUE SECRETARY, Robinson Barreirinhas, goes to CPI in the Senate and suggests revisiting law on the regulation of the sector
The Special Secretary of the IRS, defended on Tuesday (11.mar.2025) that the Congress revisits the project of regulating online bets to maintain direct income tax retention.
According to him, the measure would come to make the bets less attractive to the public. He denied that the intention is to increase the collection of public coffers – to indulge that there would be change at some level.

The initial bill determined that the customer should pay 15% over any betting gains, but has undergone a number of changes until it began to effectively be valid:

The Senator (Republicans-DF) commented on Barreirinhas criticism to Congress. According to her, the economic team celebrated the law when it was passed and the CPI would bring legislative changes.

Barreirinhas also argued that companies are supervised for what they already did in Brazil before regulation, even those that did not work in the country.
He says there “difficulty” in how to summon or investigate a company that is abroad. Nevertheless, he said it was necessary to look at the people who worked for the brand in the national territory.
