Fans of South Korean culture were taken by surprise with the news of the death of singer Choi Whee-Sung, better known as Wheesung. The artist, who was 43 and burst in the country in 2002, was found dead on Monday (10/3) in his apartment in the east of Seoul, South Korea’s east of Seoul. According to local media, the famous was the victim of a cardiac arrest.

20 years of career
Born in February 1982, Wheesung burst in South Korea with his debut album, Like A Movie, released in 2002. He is known for songs such as Insomnia (2009) and Heartsore Story (2011), whose official clip adds more than 11 million views on Youtube alone.
Throughout his career, the South Korean singer released six albums, the latest being the album Vocalate, released in 2009. Wheesung was planning a return to the stage soon. He was preparing to do a joint show with the Ballads Singer KCM on March 15 in Daegu, a city in the south of the country.
The famous one even made a post on social networks last Thursday (6/3), commenting on the presentation and inviting fans for his return. “The diet is over. I see you on March 15, ”he wrote.
Possible overdose
According to the South Korean newspaper Korea Joongang Daily, paramedics arrived at Wheesung’s apartment after being called by the artist’s family, but he was already lifeless. “It seemed that a significant amount of time had passed since his death,” said local police. No sign of violence was found in the body of the musician and the police work with the hypothesis of overdose.
“There is no evidence of burglary or other crime,” said police. “We are investigating details, as if he left a ticket,” he said.
In March and April 2020, Wheesun was found unconscious after excessive use of ethomidate, a propofol -like sleep -inducing drug. Already in 2021, the singer was found guilty of spending 6.5 million wons (over $ 4,000) on 12 propofol prescriptions from September to November 2019.
