Sérgio Maurício It will continue to be part of the Formula 1 coverage team at Band and will narrate this weekend’s activities with the Australian Grand Prix, the first of the 2025 season.
The narrator had been removed from February 26, according to the newspaper “Folha de S. Paulo”, after writing a transphobic commentary on federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP). At the time, the Bandeirantes group had not publicly manifested.
According to the Grand Prix portal, the news of the return was not well accepted by the station’s employees, nor with users of social networks. There were rumors that pointed to Galvão Bueno to re -narrate the category, with the trip to the Band, but the communicator himself rejected the idea.

What is Sérgio Maurício’s version of what happened?
First, the narrator had said that the profile was not his and that it would not be the first time they created fake profiles using the journalist’s image.
However, earlier this month, he changed the version. In a note sent to Matheus Leitão’s column in Veja, he said: “I deeply regret the wrong words I used by referring to Mrs Erika Hilton, a parliamentarian for whom I have the highest respect. I apologize to her, to her voters and whom she has been offended most.”
The deputy said she will sue Sérgio Maurício. “Yes, I see the Band’s decision to push him away. But what matters to me is that people who attack our dignity respond criminally,” he told Folha de São Paulo. So far, there has been no consequences about the case.
