There is an increasing traffic on the roads, yet we want to feel safe as possible here as much as possible. But the problem is often in the technical condition of vehicles that passes us – and it is not excluded that we are sitting in one of the unsatisfactory. The European Union is tuned by a plan that should turn with it.
According to statistics published on the Cebia portal, the average age of a passenger car in the Czech Republic is 16.21 years. It is therefore a hypothetical car, made in 2008 or 2009. Of course, there are no veterans from a certain point of view, but on the other hand, we have to count on the wear of such a machine and also with the development that goes forward. The technologies that were standard sixteen years ago are now overcome, as well as the requirements for equipment, safety and emission limits are literally changing every moment.

Rejuvenate
Therefore, the European Union has decided to advance in an effort to rejuvenate the fleet and, above all, to prevent those cars that no longer meet the current requirements to continue their roads and significantly pollute nature and reduce traffic safety. However, even though many motorists began to worry about the first information that older cars would even be confiscated, the reality should of course be different.
There is no reason to panic
So what is it about? The new regulation should clearly define an old irreparable car. It is not one that needs to replace candles or brake pads, but it should be real wrecks, for example, the engine burnt down, or a large part of the body must be replaced. If these pieces also meet the condition of the specified age, they should no longer get back on the road. Among other things, such a measure would also protect buyers in used car dealerships, where cars often get literally blinded from several others.
Scrap – and without mercy!
In order not to be similar practices, there is a clearly formulated requirement for scraping every similarly destroyed old car. However, veterans owners do not have to worry about their pets, if they are kept in good condition, there is nothing wrong with them.
Long European process
The proposal of the European Parliament and of the Council on “Requirements for Particternity of Vehicle Projects AO management of vehicles with an end” was submitted as early as 2023, but has not been in force to this day. The legislative process proceeds slowly, and if we wanted to ask at what stage the preparations are now, from the European Union resources we would find that in the first months of this year the so -called trialogue, the discussion between the European Parliament, the European Union Council and the European Commission. These negotiations should be closed to the summer and may then be approved for the final approval of the new material.
For both nature and for people
Given how slowly the negotiations are proceeding, we can only guess if everything will actually go this year. If so, according to the current ideas of the creators of the regulation, the use of a larger proportion of recycled and recyclable material in the production of cars will also be necessary. In addition, it will be necessary to pay much more care for technical inspections. So, as it has already been mentioned: by whom to protect the regulation is primarily nature and, of course, road users who will move along the road in safer cars.
