The survey showed that the proposal to return military service has the greatest support for men in their thirties.

More than half of the Poles (55 percent) think that compulsory military service should be restored in the country in the current international situation. This stems from a survey by IBRIS for Rzeczpospolita published on Tuesday, reports TASR.

According to the survey results, almost 22 percent of respondents definitely support the return of basic military service and 33 percent are rather in favor. A total of less than 36 percent of respondents are against, and eight and a half percent are definitely against and 27 percent more against. Without a clear opinion, nine percent of the survey participants were.

The daily pointed out that the results of the survey are in contrast to a similar survey from 2022, when only 36 percent of Poles were for the restoration of compulsory military service.

The greatest support for men after thirty (56 percent) is the least supported by young men under 29 (45 percent) to which the service could directly touch. Support between government and opposition parties is approximately the same, but the proposal is most supported by voters of the opposition Confederation (85 percent) and the least government third trip (43 percent).

The survey was carried out 7 and 8 March on a representative sample of 1070 respondents by the method of telephone interviews.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Tomczyk, informed on Monday that Poland is not planning to restore compulsory military service.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in his speech before Parliament and President last Friday (March 7) that he wanted every adult man in Poland to be trained in case of war. However, after the speech, he explained to journalists that he did not mean the restoration of compulsory military service.
