Portugal is in just one year before early elections. The head of the conservative Social Democratic Party of Portugal (PSD), Luis Montenegro only asked and lost the question of trust in parliament a year after his election victory. Only his PSD and two smaller right parties voted for Montenegro. The second strongest party, the socialist party (PS) and the third force, the right -wing extremist Chega (in German: enough), as well as almost all smaller formations, refused to trust the premier. Montenegro’s minority government is history. President Marcel Rebelo de Sousa is likely to start elections in mid -May.
