Asked by journalists, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento has rejected that this political crisis could endanger the national economy.
The Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, said on Wednesday that he believes the PSD “is united in the leadership of Luis Montenegro” after the rejection of the confidence motion that led to the fall of the government.
“I believe the PSD is united in the lead of Luís Montenegro, who will be the candidate for prime minister,” said the ruler, on the sidelines of the Banca Forum Conference, which is held today in Lisbon.
Joaquim Miranda Sarmento has ensured that the executive “will do what usually a management government does” by “making current decisions” and leaving the processes for “the most strategic decisions to be made by the next government.”
The minister added that he will now continue as management of government finance in management, “help AD win the elections” and that “then the prime minister will make decisions” about potential appointment in the next executive.
Questioned by journalists, Miranda Sarmento also rejected that this can endanger the national economy.
The political crisis was triggered about a month after news about a family business that belonged to the Prime Minister, Spinumviva, leading to the presentation of two censorship motions of the arrival and pcp, both squeezed.
Doubts about former Luís Montenegro company, who before going to the government went to his wife and more recently to his children, led the PS to present an inquiry parliamentary committee to produce results within 90 days.
In the plenary debate, the government admitted to remove the motion of trust if the PS reduced the time of the inquiry to 15 days, but the PS rejected.
After an interruption of work for half an hour, the PSD made known that it proposed to the PS that the inquiry last until the end of May, or about two months, a proposal that was also rejected by the PS. The PS request for an inquiry commission proposes a period of up to 90 days.
