Former player does not get minimal support of federations and clubs required for registration

Ronaldo Phenomenon will give up his candidacy for the presidency of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), reported A on Wednesday (12.mar.2025). To register an application, the regulation requires support of at least 4 state federations and 4 clubs, a requirement that the former player would not have been able to achieve.

The businessman tried to contact representatives of the federations through messages, phone calls and face -to -face meetings. In an email entitled “Audience Request-Project Alignment for Brazilian Football”, Ronaldo criticized the current management of Brazilian football as “Poorly managed, lacking transparency and centralized”.

No federation, however, expressed willingness to face the current president, Ednaldo Rodrigues. In standardized responses, the state leaders declared a commitment “With the continuity of the current CBF management”, Praising investments made in various categories, including Serie D, women’s football and social projects.

Ronaldo defended one “Revolutionary Project” To improve state championships, arbitration, calendar and grassroots categories. With his withdrawal, Ednaldo has a free path to reelection. The current president may call the election between the end of this month and March 22, 2026, when his term ends.
