Russia will only respond to the American proposal to a 30-day ceasefire after the United States has given him details, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. According to him, Moscow is currently thoroughly analyzing statements that have resulted from negotiations between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, TASR writes according to Sky News.

Unnamed Russian sources previously, according to Reuters, responded to the US proposal reserved and indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin would probably not accept it in its current form. According to these officials, any agreement to end the war in Ukraine had to take into account Russian territorial profits and the current concerns of Moscow.

Konstantin Kosačev, chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament, stressed that a possible agreement must be under conditions determined by Russia, not the United States.

The war, which began Russia with its invasion on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, has so far claimed hundreds of thousands of dead, displaced millions of people, and caused the greatest rupture between Moscow and the West from the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, writes Reuters.

US President Donald Trump has reversed his policy to Moscow to date, began to negotiate it again on a bilateral basis and temporarily suspended the provision of US military assistance and the exchange of news information with Ukraine.

Finally, the United States canceled both restrictions after about a week on Tuesday, when Ukraine expressed their willingness to take a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, which was submitted by US representatives to negotiations with its representatives in Saudi Jidda. The ball is now on the side of Russia, said Marco Rubio after the meeting of American diplomacy.

A high -ranking Russian representative for Reuters said it would be difficult for Putin to agree with the idea of the ceasefire without agreeing the conditions and obtain some guarantees. “Putin has a strong position because Russia is moving forward,” the source said on the condition of maintaining anonymity. According to him, the position of Russia could quickly weaken, and the West could then accuse Moscow that it is unable to end the war.

According to another Russian representative, the proposal for the suspension of fighting acts as a trap from the perspective of Russia. He also claims that Putin would hardly stop the war without specific guarantees or promises. The third source, in turn, pointed out that the overall impression is that the United States agreed to renew military aid and the exchange of intelligence information, and this step “decorated” a petition for a ceasefire.

“Russia (in Ukraine) is progressing, and therefore it will be different with Russia,” Kosačev said in a telegram post. “Any agreements – with all understanding for the need to compromise – should be under our conditions, not under American. And this is not praise, but understanding that real agreements are still written there, on the front. They should understand it in Washington,” he added.

Reuters recalls that Putin repeatedly rejects a short -term ceasefire. “We do not need a ceasefire, we need long -term peace secured by guarantees for the Russian Federation and its citizens. It is a difficult question to ensure these guarantees,” he said in December. In January, at a meeting of the Russian Security Council, he indicated that there should be no “rest for regrouping forces and re -arming with the aim of continuing the conflict”.

Putin set his conditions to end the war in Ukraine last June. According to them, Ukraine must give up the ambition to join NATO and withdraw soldiers from all four of its areas claimed by Russia, although it is not fully controlled. According to Russian estimates, Moscow is currently dominated by 75 percent of the territory of Ukrainian Donetsk, Zaporoza and Kersonian areas and more than 99 percent of the Luhansk region.
