Trump’s envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff should visit Moscow, where he could meet Vladimir Putin at a personal meeting.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that this week is likely to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin. A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that such communication between powers is possible in the near future, TASR writes according to AFP reports.
“We are not excluding contact with US officials in the coming days,” spokeswoman Maria Zacharova told Russian news agencies.
Witkoff after Putin to Moscow
AP reported that Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff should travel to Moscow this week where he could meet Putin in person.
The statements of Trump and Zacharovová follow the Tuesday’s meeting of Ukrainian and American officials in Saudi Arabia, resulting in the consent of Kiev with a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia and the abolition of US military assistance and news exchange with Ukraine.
When the journalist’s question about the prospects for a complete ceasefire in Ukraine, Trump said, “Well, I hope it will be in the coming days, I would like to see it.”
