With the approach of spring, the days become progressively longer, and dawn and the evening undergo visible changes. As is already tradition, this period of the year brings with it a change in official time for summer, adjusting the daily rhythm to the new distribution of sunlight.
The transition to summer time in Portugal is scheduled for the last Sunday of March, the 30th. As usual, the clocks should be advanced an hour, ensuring days with more natural light.
According to the information released by the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory, the change will take place at dawn.
In mainland Portugal and the autonomous region of Madeira, the clocks should be advanced at 01h00, passing directly to 02h00. In the Azores, the change happens at midnight, when the pointers advance to 01h00.

Winter time returns in October
The current time change regime remains in force, predicting two annual transitions: one for summer time in March, and one for winter time in October.
By 2025, the winter -time return will take place on the last Sunday of the month, the 26th, when the watches should be delayed an hour.
For 2026, two dates are planned to change the time: the passing time will take place on March 29, while winter time will resume on October 25.
The change of time in Portugal follows the directive, which establishes a coordinated time between the Member States.
Despite previous debates on a possible elimination of the biannual change, the system is still in force without legislative changes planned for the coming years.
