Government members (PT) evaluate that, in reference to the Minister (Secretariat of Institutional Relations), was not adequate. They, however, minimize the episode, criticizing their repercussions.

On Wednesday (12), Lula said at an event at the Planalto Palace that he put a “beautiful woman” in his government’s political articulation to “improve the relationship” with. The speech was directed to the presidents of the Chamber, (Republicans-PB), and Senate, (Brazil-AP Union), who accompanied the ceremony.

Three ministers told the report, under reserve, to consider Lula’s speech inadequate. They say, however, that petista actions and gestures have always been towards valuing women’s performance.

They cite as an example from government programs that privilege the role of women, such as OEO, to appointments for positions in politics, for example, and (superior military court)-stipulating the first woman to occupy this post.

One of these ministers says that the president used an inappropriate adjective and that this generates damage to his image, especially with militancy. He also states that care must be taken and that the president cannot “give rise to criticism”, especially at times such as the Wednesday ceremony, when a positive government action was overshadowed by the statement.

The speech took place at a launch event, called “Worker Credit”. The creation of this new model is considered one of the main economic agendas of the federal government this year and a nod to the lower classes, at a time when the executive tries to reverse the president’s fall of popularity.

Petista assistants also speak of “distortion” of the president’s words by opponents to attack his image and claim that criticism is disproportionate. Bolsonarists reacted with criticism, irony and macho offenses to Lula’s speech, attacking the president and the minister.

An ally from Lula says his statement “does not compare” to the former president’s misogynistic history of speeches (PL) to disqualify women with whom he had clashes, complaining about the attacks of the pockets. Last week, for example, Councilman Jair Renan (PL), son of Bolsonaro ,.

But in the assessment of this ally, that is precisely why Lula cannot commit this kind of slip. He stresses, however, that this statement does not reflect the attitudes of the President of the Republic.

Gleisi herself issued a note on the morning of Thursday (13) repudiating what she classified as “scoundrel attacks from pockets, misogynists, macho and political violence.”

“They do not intimidate me or find me. Opportunists trying to disregard President Lula. Gestures are more important than words. He did not have and has no other leader like the Presidentelula who most empowed women,” Gleisi wrote.

“What morals do you have? Have you forgotten the interviews, the videos where Bolsonaro assaulted women, encouraging political and physical violence, prejudice, macho? Scoundrels, respect the intelligence of the Brazilian people!”

The minister also stated that the president has a history that “accredits him with the struggle of women for spaces of command and power.”

“What I am outraged is with the far right, with the pockets who use it to make a low, dirty, sordid game, when in fact, they, yes. They, Bolsonaro, have always been against women, discriminatory, misogynists and chauvinists. This we will not accept, this will have response to the time,” the minister told journalists after leaving the Minister of Finance, this morning.

The government leader in the House, José Guimarães (PT-CE), went to the networks to criticize the attacks of pockets made to the minister. He cited speech by Deputy Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and said he will look for Hugo Motta and party leaders to open a lawsuit against the parliamentary council and parliamentary decorum of the House.
