Napoleon – Everyone has heard about this cake at least once. It definitely belongs to the group of the most popular desserts, is eagerly served on various types of banquets. This is not surprising at all, because it not only tastes insane, but also looks great.
Let’s start with a little story. Although this delicacy is associated with many people with France, it turns out that it comes from sunny Italy. In Naples, an excellent dessert enjoyed popularity, which consisted of three cakes of cakes postponed with cream or jam. When the baking hit the royal tables of France, he was named millefeuillewhich meant “a thousand petals”. The dessert went to our country in a significantly simplified version, as two sheets of cakes postponed with sweet cream.
The name Napoleonka is obviously associated with the famous Napoleon Bonaparte, but this is a mistake – the original is about the adjective “Neapolitan”. In Poland, depending on the region, another name is also popular, i.e. fondantwhich in turn is associated with Pope John Paul II, who ate this delicacy.
Regardless of what we call this cake, it is simply delicious and invariably remains a welcome item in the menu on banquets, but also at home.
