The following ingredients will be needed to prepare this salad:
- 3 herring fillets à la matjas (from the salt pickle),
- 1 onion,
- 3 potatoes,
- 2 carrots,
- 2 beets,
- 4 eggs,
- about 200 g of mayonnaise,

- A handful of fresh greens (e.g. dill, parsley).

Cook hard -boiled eggs (8 minutes from the moment the water boils). Peel, cool and chop.
Fold the salad into a whole. Arrange herring with onions at the bottom of the glass vessel. Brush with mayonnaise. Place a layer of potatoes on top. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper. Brush with mayonnaise. Proceed in the same way with subsequent layers of salad – carrot, egg and beetroot. Decorate with chopped greens. Cool in the fridge.
