Ukraine: What do we know so far about the 9 points of the truce plan

After more than three years of war, it agreed to their proposal for immediate truce and all eyes are now on Moscow, as it is still not clear, though it will consent to the ceasefire.

Despite the concern, it is reasonable to, that such a truce is very easy to blush in the air with the slightest mistake, at the moment, it is useful to see the data currently available at the negotiating table. The 30 -day truce will come into force as soon as Russia accepts the terms.

Here’s what we know about the agreement so far:

1. The battles could stop immediately if Russia agrees

He stressed that he would immediately transfer the 30 -day truce plan to Moscow. “The ball is now on their court,” Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said. Russia is pleased with Trump’s stance so far and the ceasefire does not impose any particular condition on the Kremlin, as far as they are known to date, beyond the immediate cessation of attacks.

According to the ceasefire plan, the cessation of hostilities will allow humanitarian steps to be carried out, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the liberation of civilian prisoners “and the return of Ukraine children who were violently displaced,” the common statement said.

2. Will Putin agree?

In the proposed plan it was not exactly enthusiastic. Speaking to the Russian state -run TASS news service, Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zaharova said: “We do not exclude contacts with US representatives in the coming days.”

Western officials have long been concerned about whether Putin is really interested in long -term peace, even if he accepted the 30 -day truce. Russia is also gaining ground on the battlefield, with the help of other countries, such as North Korea, China and Iran.

Putin has also made demands on a constant agreement, which seems to be impossible to accept Ukraine, including the ban on European peacekeeping and international recognition for territories held by Russia. Will Putin compromise on these terms just because Trump proposes them?

3. The US is again sharing information with Ukraine

After taking the radical step of interrupting military equipment and information to Kiev, the US has now agreed to return to the sharing of secret information with Ukraine, while the agreement predicts that the United States will also restart “security” assistance, that is, the supply of the military.

4. This is not a peace agreement

The terms of the proposal relate to a temporary truce, which can be extended if both sides agree. As soon as the battles stop, negotiations on the terms of permanent peace will begin immediately. Both the US and Ukraine have promised to choose their negotiating teams as soon as possible.

5. This is not a mineral agreement

Trump has made it clear that he wants access to Ukraine mineral reserves, such as lithium, heavenly and titanium. Zelenski was expected to sign some kind of agreement on the rights of minerals for US companies when he visited the White House two weeks ago, but this prospect collapsed during that painful public dispute with Trump and his vice -president.

Following the announcement of a ceasefire plan on Tuesday, Trump told reporters that he would invite Zelenski again to the White House to discuss the deal again.

6. Ukraine has not abandoned any ground – yet

Prior to the talks, Rubio warned Kiev that he would need to make concessions, including territorial levels. But during the eight -term discussions in Jeddah on Tuesday, the issue of terminal assignment was not even raised, according to a Ukrainian official. The issue is certain, however, that it will be raised if there are meaningful negotiations to permanently settle the issue.

7. Trump has not agreed to provide security guarantees

Trump made it clear that he was not willing to guarantee “much” through Ukraine’s future security, considering the guarantees of Europe rather than the US. Nothing in Tuesday’s joint statement indicates any change in this area.

8. Europe must ‘get involved’

The statement stated that the Ukrainians wanted the involvement of the “European partners” in the peace process. However, it was not clear that the American side agreed at this point. For their part, European Commission President Ursula von der Laien and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer hastened to greet progress in peace talks.

9. What will follow

Starmer will convene a meeting of Europeans and not just leaders on Saturday. At the same time, he is working with French President Emmanuel Macron to form a “coalition of willing” – countries ready to send troops as peacekeeping forces or provide another support to an international mission to adhere to the permanent truce.

The US is not involved in these discussions, as the Trump government has made it clear that there will be no US army in the area. Much will depend on whether the Starmer and Macron coalition is strong enough to convince the Ukrainians that he will stop Russia’s attack and enough to convince Putin that he is not a threat.
