Aljezur has taken a determining step in consolidating his commitment to sustainable tourism, with the official presentation of the sustainable tourist destination certification, which took place this Thursday. The project is part of the line to regenerate territories-Fires 2023, promoted by Turismo de Portugal, and aims to affirm the county as a reference in nature tourism.

The municipality of Aljezur is implementing the project “Aljezur Mais Sustainable”, which received a financing of about 160,000 euros and its main objective is to consolidate the sustainability and responsibility of the destination.

The presentation ceremony took place at BTL – Lisbon Tourism Scholarship and was attended by the mayor of Aljezur, José Gonçalves, Tourism Councilman, António Carvalho, the President of the Algarve Tourism Region, André Gomes, and the team of Biosphere Sustainable, responsible for the certification process.

This certification will reinforce Aljezur’s bet in the Nature Tourism segment, consolidating its position as a sustainable and differentiating destination. To enhance this initiative, a marketing and communication plan will be developed, which will define strategies to promote the county at national and international level.

In addition, it will be present at several tourism fairs in Portugal and Spain, integrating the representation of the Algarve Tourism Region. The actions aim to promote the territory, capture new visitors and create business opportunities for local operators.

The participation calendar includes events such as: BTL – Lisbon Tourism Scholarship (March 12-16), Fly – Porto Travel Fair (March 22 and 23), B Travel – Barcelona, ​​Spain (March 28-30), and ExpovaCaciones – Bilbao, Spain (9-11 May)

With these initiatives, Aljezur reinforces his commitment to sustainability and valuing his natural and economic heritage, promoting more balanced and responsible tourism.
