In accurate 30 days the following happened: a dermatologist has removed it; sent the material to biopsy; The result indicated melanoma, the most aggressive of skin cancers, in this case “in situ”, ie superficial, located; I consulted with João Pedreira Duprat Neto, Skin Oncologist Leader of this specialty at the Accological Reference Hospital AC Camargo; A deeper removal was scheduled for April.
If there was no alert at the makeshift office under the ruins of the Cepê Velodrome, the USP club, I would likely not have a time pump on my back. I am not –or was not – the type of person who consults with dermatologists regularly.
For here is the suggestion that you, being mainly white person, adopt this care, especially if you already have old fold the storm cable, like this columnist. In addition, what Dr. João Duprat recommended was:
– Maintain sports activity, swimming or running, my case, including the same times of sun exposure, if it is convenient; A protective t -shirt, even in the pool, goes well;
– Pass blocker in long sun exposure situations.
That is, nothing that a person with “at least 18 years”, as he said, should no longer know.
What may challenge common sense a little is the fact that accumulated sun exposure modifies the character of a spot that is usually covered under clothes. Duprat said that, unlike more exposed areas, they do not usually develop a melanin’s “cover”, which make them more vulnerable.
And, yes, there was sun exposure, even back there, in childhood and adolescence. The mutations are gradually occurring over the years.
Men my age, 50 years and smoke from the glorious last 21, when they develop this kind of melanoma, often even in their backs.
And finally: the chance of healing, said the doctor, is “100 percent”, as long as the small surgical intervention occurs within six months. If the melanoma had not been noticed, or the time of its discovery was quite another, perhaps the business had already radiated. There…
In other words, if Miguel was not judicious in my pool appointment – and the lines that have been forming at the Velodrome do not indicate exactly this behavior – I could enter the statistics.
And if you have children, nephews, smaller siblings, etc., it may be the case to take the theme of sun exposure seriously. As my own case shows, the account may take four or five decades, but one day it is charged.
