In line with Paulo Rangel, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said the peace process has to involve the country invaded for more than three years in Russia and EU countries: “Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, nothing about Europe without Europe”
Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel considered on Friday that “it is extemporaneous” to specify the support that Portugal can provide to Ukraine within a possible peace scenario.
“It is extemporaneous to say what terms, but, of course, Portugal wants to be present, and demonstrates this solidarity, also in reconstruction,” said Paulo Rangel, at a press conference with the Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that it is important to involve all European Union (EU) countries in the peace process that may be to begin, if Russia agrees to Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
“A new European order of coexistence is at stake and it is important that European countries can be called to give these security guarantees,” he added.
Asked by journalists about what the role of Portugal could be in future security guarantees, Paulo Rangel insisted “that it is still premature” to talk about the realization of this support.

Andrii Sibiga said that “since the early days of the Russian invasion”, Portugal “opened the doors and welcomed thousands” of Ukrainian citizens.
Warning that the “future of Europe depends on the unit”, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy has asked Portugal to support in relations with African and Latin America, so as to ‘close’ the possibilities of Russia around sanctions and not getting other partners that allow to feed the conflict.
