He European-Mediterranean seismological center (EMSC) has reported a New earthquake of magnitude 4.8 in Greece Near Kolimbi, Heraklion, Crete, early this Friday afternoon.

According to the report, the earthquake has had a surface depth of 12 km, but the exact magnitude, the epicenter and the depth of the earthquake could be reviewed in the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Based on provisional seismic data, The earthquake should not have caused any significant damagebut it was probably felt by many people as a slight vibration in the epicenter area. It is possible that a weak tremor in Kolimbi (88 inhabitants), located 95 km from the epicenter. Other locations near the epicenter where the earthquake could have felt with a very weak tremor include pyrgos (1100 inhabitants), located at 96 km, Iierapetra (12 400 inhabitants), 105 km, and Moires (6400 inhabitants), 107 km.
