Russian President Vladimir Putin sent Donald Trump a message about the proposal for ceasefire in Ukraine through Trump special, declared Kremlin on Friday (14), adding that he saw reasons for “cautious optimism” that an agreement could be achieved.

The US president said he wants Moscow and Kiev to agree with a quick ceasefire to stop the fight in a conflict that he warned that he has the potential to become a third world war and has cost many lives on both sides.

On Friday, Trump again pressured Russia to sign and conclude “a ceasefire and final agreement,” saying in a post on his private social media platform that he would take the US than he called “true ‘mess’ with Russia.”

Putin said on Thursday that, but the fight could not be interrupted until a number of crucial conditions were resolved, increasing the prospect of longer negotiations to close an agreement.

Despite its highly qualified nature, Trump called.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov spoke to reporters on Friday that the Kremlin leader-who expressed concern that Ukrainian forces would use any ceasefire to regroup-had kept night conversations in Moscow with Steve Witkoff, sent from Trump to discuss the US proposal.

A lot to be done

“There are certainly reasons to be cautiously optimistic. You heard a very important statement yesterday from President Putin said that supports Trump’s position in terms of an agreement, but expressed some questions that need to be answered together, ”said Peskov.

He continued informing that, “There is still much to be done, but even so, the president expressed solidarity with Mr. Trump’s position.”

Peskov stressed that Russia and the US would resolve the moment of a telephone call between the presidents as soon as Witkoff informed the American, saying that both sides agreed that such a connection was necessary.

Putin stated that he wants Russia to control all the four Ukrainian regions that he claimed as his own and that the size of the Ukrainian army is limited.

He also made it clear that he wants western sanctions to be relieved and a presidential election to be held in Ukraine, which Kiev says he is premature as long as martial law remains in force.

The spokesman minimized US media reports suggesting that Russian authorities told American colleagues that they did not want Trump’s envoy to Russia and Ukraine to get involved in high-level discussions to end the war.

“It would probably be absurd to think that the Russian side could intrude on an internal American subject. We have no intention of doing this, ”expressed Peskov.

“It is their decision to name, who does not name, and so on. So, no, I can’t confirm this here at all, ”he concluded.
