In a statement issued on Thursday, Judge Cristiano Zanin indicated that he will be analyzed “if the complaint” filed by the prosecutor “presented sufficient evidence for the opening of criminal action against the accused.”
In the sessions scheduled for March, the first class of the Supreme Court, composed of progressive profile judges, will analyze if the accusation is solid enough to start a criminal proceedings. The defendants will not yet be tried.
In addition to the former president, among the defendants planned for the session is the former Bolsonaro advisor, Colonel Mauro Cid, who testified to the Supreme Court in a collaboration agreement.
The accusations made against Walter Braga Netto, former minister, reserve general and vice-presidential candidate in 2022, former Justice Minister Anderson Torres and former Defense Minister Paulo Sérgio Nogueira will also be analyzed.
