Former president denies Michelle’s candidacy to Planalto and reveals plans for her in the Senate in 2026
The former president (PL) compared the popularity of his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, with that of singer Gusttavo Lima when asked about the possibility of a successor to the 2026 elections. However, Bolsonaro reaffirmed that Michelle will not be a candidate for presidency Next year.
During an interview with the podcast Flow This Friday (14.mar.2025), the former president explained that, despite the so-called popularity of Michelle, she Must compete for a Senate vacancy in 2026.
“I never launched Michelle as a presidential candidate, nor Flávio [Bolsonaro]. She is similar to Gusttavo Lima in terms of popularity, people like her. She is a wife, evangelical, has a nice husband [risos]. The idea is that she applying for the Senate, while Eduardo [Bolsonaro] would play for São Paulo, and Flávio for Rio. Carlos [Bolsonaro] should apply for federal deputy, as well as Jair Renan ”said Bolsonaro.
The statement is just 3 days after Bolsonaro had a possible candidacy of Gusttavo Lima during a motorcycle helmet launch event in Sao Paulo, on the 3rd (11.mar).
When asked by journalists about possible right leaders, such as the countryman and the candidate for the São Paulo City Hall in 2024 (PRTB), Bolsonaro merely said: “I don’t know… [Gusttavo Lima] It’s a singer ”.
Bolsonaro was supported by Gusttavo Lima during the 2022 presidential elections. In the election campaign, he even received him at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia.
