Affirmation is made in a newly released book by Tibetan religious leader; Beijing government works for successor aligned with their interests
Dalai-Lama has announced that his successor will be born out of China in his new book “Voice For The Voiceless”, released on Tuesday (11.mar.2025).
In the work, the spiritual leader of 89 -year -old Tibetan Buddhism expresses the desire for his institution to persist after his death, with a successor born in a “Free World”far from the Chinese influence.
China considers Dalai-Lama a “separatist” and claims to have the right to choose his successor. Beijing’s government wants a new spiritual leader aligned with his interests in Tibet, a region that controls politically.
Tenzin Gyatso, a secular name of the one that is considered the 14th Dalai-Lama reincarnation, fled to India in 1959 after the attempted uprising against the government of Mao Tse Tung.
The Tibetan Parliament, in exile in India, supported the leader’s position, rejecting a Beijing proposal to discuss the future of position under conditions that include recognition of Tibet and Taiwan as inalienable parts of China.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has even stated that the leader is a political exile without the right to represent the Tibetan people.
