A week after receiving the president (PT) in one, the MST (Landless Rural Workers Movement) invaded land in three states on Thursday (13), expanding pressure on the government for speed in policies.
The actions are part of the journey of struggle of landless women, which began on International Women’s Day. Demonstrations were held in 23 states and the Federal District, including land invasions in, e.
About 1,000 women occupied an area of Suzano company in the municipality of Aracruz, Espírito Santo. The MST has a history of conflict with the pulp giant, which includes 22 areas.
The landless argue that the areas are intended for agricultural settlements and that food production has priority to the detriment of commodity production, such as cellulose.
In a statement, Suzano classified the MST’s action as illegal, stressed that the land is productive and reported that it obtained in court an injunction favorable to the request for repossession.
It also pointed out that the invasion of the Holy Spirit “causes strangeness”, since it happens in a context of fruitful dialogue between the company, the Incra and the Ministry of Development.
“The company understands that as long as the invasion lasts, this collaborative environment does not exist and will suspend negotiations so far underway,” he said.
In Bahia, about 300 families invaded two lands on Thursday in the municipalities of Nova Redenção and Boa Vista do Tupim, in Chapada Diamantina. According to the MST, both areas are unproductive.
The day before, about 600 landless women made a demonstration and blocked the BR-101 highway at the time of the municipality of Teixeira de Freitas, in the end of the state.

The trip to Campo do Meio (335 km from Belo Horizonte) was considered a gesture of approaching the president with the movement after a series of disagreements among its leaders with government representatives.
“Everyone knows that I have a side. Who are my friends? They are you. I never forget who they are. I know who is real friend and who is a occasional friend, just because I am president,” Lula told MST supporters.
At the time, he announced the delivery of 12,297 lots of land in 138 settlements in 24 states of the country. Among them was the among Quilombo Campo Grande. The MST classified the recognition of the settlement as history.
