Amid the (Attorney General’s Office) got that the first complaint filed by the agency would be accepted last week by the (Supreme Court), which became defendants.
One of the cases of greatest repercussion on the theme of amendments, however, remains inconclusive and even under the responsibility of the team, the Attorney General: involving the Minister of Communications, ().
This is one of the cases that put Gonet in a delicate situation because the president himself (PT) himself said in an interview with UOL last year if there is a complaint.
Nine months ago, on June 12, 2024, Juscelino was indicted by the suspicion of crimes of criminal organization, money laundering, passive corruption, ideological falsehood and bid fraud.
The PF concluded that he joined a criminal organization that diverted resources from paving works funded with public money from the federal state.
It will be up to the PGR to submit a complaint of the case or request its filing, but none of the hypotheses have happened so far. In the Supreme, the case is under the minister’s rapporteur and is under confidential.
Sought and questioned if it is expected to speak, the PGR reported in a statement that “does not disclose predictions about possible procedural manifestations” and “also does not speak of confidential cases, such as the process.”
Juscelino’s own advice said, in a statement, that “the inquiry conducted by the Federal Police did not present any concrete evidence that supports the accusations.” The minister said he reaffirmed “his conviction in his own innocence” and fully trusts “that the judiciary will recognize and restore the truth of the facts.”
“The allegations made are nothing more than unfounded and underwear assumptions,” says the minister’s statement.
“His performance as a deputy was limited to the indication of parliamentary amendments to fund public works, a legitimate and legal prerogative of his function as a parliamentary. The conduct of bids, the execution and supervision of these works are the sole responsibility of the competent bodies, not the federal deputies.”
At the time of the indictment, the minister released a video saying that the police investigation “distorted and ignored facts” and “did not even hear the defense about what was actually being investigated.”
The suspicions involve irregularities in works carried out in Vitorino Freire (MA), a city that was governed by Luanna Rezende, the minister’s sister, and benches by parliamentary amendments indicated by Lula’s minister during the period he exercised the mandate of federal deputy.
One of the elements used by the PF is a report by (Comptroller General of the Union) about one of the works benefiting from the minister’s family.
The investigation began to investigate them suspicions of deviations in works of Codevasf, especially those carried out by the company Construservice, whose hidden partner, points to PF, is the businessman Eduardo José Barros Costa, known as Eduardo DP.
Juscelino began to be investigated after PF found messages between him and Eduardo DP on the mobile phone of the businessman seized in an operation.
In addition to the case of the Minister of Communications, investigations on amendments became one of the priorities of Gonet management in the PGR, in line with the intentions of a portion of the Supreme – and also the plateau – of greater control and transparency on the mechanism.
In conversations reserved with federal deputies last month, Dino said that today about possible irregularities in amendments.
The complaint about the deputies of Gonet was presented last August, and they were made defendants in a virtual session that ended on March 11. The investigation had been started during the command of Na PGR.
They were denounced, on charges of passive corruption and criminal organization, Josimar Maranhãozinho (PL-MA), Bosco Costa (PL-SE), who is currently alternate, and Pastor Gil (PL-MA).
According to the PGR, the three would have requested payment of bribes as a counterpart to the destination of amendments in São José de Ribamar and other cities of Maranhão.
In receiving the complaint, the defense of Bosco Costa denied having committed irregularities, as well as Pastor Gil. Josimar’s did not speak up.
Before submitting the complaint, the PGR was cautious to substantiate the case and increase the collection of evidence. The PF initially presented a final report on the case in March 2023.
The Attorney’s Office requested more police due diligence, such as the analysis of more cellular handsets that had been seized and more testimonials. A complementary report, with this information, was presented in December of the same year.
The complaint was only ready in August and the case is reported by the minister. Now, upon receipt of the complaint, the so -called instructional phase begins, when testimonials are taken and the tests are analyzed before the trial, which will be done by the first class of the Supreme Court.
