New York’s parliamentarian and nine other members of the Democratic bench broke with most of his party in a procedural vote for a $ 1.7 trillion financing measure, leading to a score of 62 to 38, above the necessary 60 -voting limit for a Senate bill. He argued that blocking the measure and risking a stoppage would have allowed Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), led by Elon Musk, to accelerate the restructuring of federal agencies, citing the power of administration during a financing gap to determine which employees and services are essential or not essential.
