According to the former president, democracy matured “in the heart of Brazil” as a “dogma that we should follow to the end”
The former president said this Saturday (15.mar.2025) that has “Great personal pride” for participating in the redemocratization process and having delivered “To the Brazilian people a quiet country”. He spoke at the event “Democracy 40 years: achievements, debts and challenges”, for the linked to (Former Party, the former Communist Party)in the Pantheon of Fatherland and Freedom Tancredo Neves, in Brasilia.
“I had the privilege and responsibility of conducting our country in one of the most decisive moments of our republican history”declared Sarney. According to him, democracy has matured “In the heart of Brazil” like a “Dogma that we should follow until the end of our history”. Said no democracy is built without challenges and that their years of government were “Challenging”but that the country got “Cross all that time in absolute tranquility” and without democratic ruptures.
Sarney also talked about Tancredo Neves. Called him “Great leader” And said it was he who organized “engineering” of the democratic transition. “Many Brazilians gave life to Brazil, but Tancredo gave death”he declared. He said he “It was prepared by the story” For that moment.
The former president said that the armed forces are “Faithful to the Constitution” And they demonstrated this on January 8th. “It’s been 40 years that are definitely planted there in the institutions we build”he declared. 40 years of democracy
