Professor Danilo Daniel dos Santos, from EMEF (Municipal School of Elementary School) Philó Gonçalves dos Santos, in the Perus neighborhood, in São Paulo, was one of the winners of the Professor Porvir Award. He took the award due to the project “Little Guardians” in the special anti -racist category.
The history teacher introduced the past of the Perus neighborhood of the 4th grade students to introduce the theme. He told, for example, the public policies of the last century that led to installation of a polluting factory and a large cemetery on the periphery.
“My intention is that the class, even small, develops historical knowledge and reflects on how the unequal distribution of these environmental damage is reflected in social injustices,” Daniel explained in his.
The class also took the debate out of the classroom, exploring the Eco-Park School Philó and the Agroecological Horta. They evaluated the infrastructure, such as guided trails and space for cultivation, as well as exercise and collect the garbage found on site.
