If not treated, cholera can be fatal in hours

Cholera is an acute disease that can be fatal in hours if not treated.

According to the World Health Organization, “most people with cholera have slight or moderate diarrhea and can be treated with oral rehydration solutions,” but the rapid progression of the disease means that immediate treatment is critical to saving lives.

“It is a threat of global public health and an indicator of inequality and lack of economic and social development. Access to safe water, basic sanitation and hygiene is essential to prevent cholera and other diseases that are transmitted by water,” adds WHO.
