Fight of fans before game final mark of the classic Fla-Flu in RJ

A confrontation between fans of Flamengo and Fluminense marked the morning of Sunday (16), hours before the final of the Carioca Championship in Maracanã. The fight took place on the streets of Engenho Novo, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, near the stadium.

According to reports and images circulating on social networks, an initial disagreement has climbed into a physical confrontation, with fans using pieces of sticks and wood as weapons.

The violence spread through the streets, scaring residents and traders in the region.

The Military Police of the 3rd BPM (Méier) were called and arrived at the scene to contain the fight. The agents used the weapons of lower offensive potential (baton) to disperse the fans involved in the aggressions.

The police action managed to control the situation.

According to the PM, there was no record of arrests during the action. However, agents reinforced policing in the region, with the aim of avoiding further incidents before and after departure.

The classic Fla-Flu, which decides the state champion of 2024, starts at 16h, in Maracanã.

According to the Rio Operations Center, the interdictions around the stadium, implemented since 13h this Sunday (16), are in force, with release forecast for 20h.
