The government will make one million euros available for the modernization of stop shelters and information production in public transport, the tutelage said.

In a statement, the, protected by Miguel Pinto Luz, states that this money, available within the Transport Fund, aims to combat the exclusion and poverty of mobility outside the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto.

In total, the money to be made available is 1 million euros, 750,000 for the acquisition and installation of stop shelters and the remaining 250,000 for the development and production of information to the public, namely network maps, times, tariffs and other information.

“Bringing more people to public transportation, one of the designs of this government, also creates attractive conditions, whether with the offer of more circulating material, lower rates, more equipment quality such as shelters or information offer,” says Miguel Pinto Luz, cited in the note.

Beneficiary entities are municipalities, intercity communities and public transport operators if they are responsible for the infrastructure.

“This value can be reinforced, under the decision of the guardianship, through the effective demand that is verified,” adds the note.
