During the Copa Cabana demonstration, the governor of São Paulo also questioned the reason for the Brazilian court to make former president Jair Bolsonaro ineligible
The governor of Sao Paulo (Republicans) rose his tone for the amnesty of prisoners and convicted by January 8, this Sunday (16). “We are here to ask, to fight and show that we are all together to demand amnesty of those innocents who received unreasonable penalties (…) I want to see who will have the courage to oppose [ao projeto da anistia]”Said the chief executive of São Paulo, alongside the former president (PL). Tarcisio also questioned why Brazilian justice made the former president ineligible.
“What reason to ward off Jair Messias Bolsonaro from the ballot box? It’s fear of losing election, because they know they will lose? ”Asked the former minister. Today, Bolsonaro could only return to the presidential election in 2034. This is because, in June 2023, to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) condemned Bolsonaro for abuse of political power and misuse of the media, by the meeting with ambassadors in which he attacked the country’s electoral system without presenting any evidence.
In October of the same year, he was condemned once again for abuse of political power during the September 7 holiday in 2022 for using the date to campaign, according to the magistrates’ understanding. Tarcisio also stated that freedom in the country is at risk. According to him, “Freedom is a tree that bears fruit and the day this tree dies, the fruits go away. The investment goes away, leaves legal certainty, leaves prosperity and leaves democracy itself. ”
Earlier, the government leader said he will urgently ask for the proposal to forgive the crimes for which those arrested and convicted by January 8 respond to the Supreme Federal Court (STF). “I’m making a commitment to you. This week, at the Leaders College meeting, we will enter 92 PL deputies and other parties, so we can urgently ask for the amnesty project to enter the agenda next week, ”he said.
