Peruvian fisherman is found alive after 95 days lost at sea

A Peruvian fisherman was found alive in the Pacific Ocean after passing 95 days lost at sea, the Peruvian state news agency said on Saturday (16).

Maximum Napa Castro, 61, went out to fish on his boat on December 7, Marcona, a coastal city in southern Peru. However, bad weather forced him to divert the course and made him lose his direction.

The fisherman was found on March 11 by a fishing boat from Ecuador, which sailed in Águas from the north coast of Peru. He was very dehydrated and in critical condition.

After the ransom, Napa Castro told reporters that she managed to survive by drinking rainwater and eating insects, birds and a turtle.

The fisherman spent the last 15 days without eating, according to Reuters. Napa Castro told the Peruvian press that at the most difficult times he thought of the family to be able to “cling to” to life.

“I said I didn’t want to die for my mother. I had a granddaughter a few months old, I held her. Every day I thought about my mother, ”he said.

His daughter, Inés Napa Torres, thanked Ecuadorian fishermen for saving their father’s life.

“Thank you, Ecuadorian brothers, for rescuing my Father Gatón, God bless them,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Napa Castro’s family and fishing groups had been looking for him three months ago. “Every day it is an anguish for the whole family and I understand my grandmother’s pain because as a mother I understand her. We never thought we would go through this situation, I would not want it to anyone, we will not lose hope of finding him father, ”wrote his daughter on March 3 on Facebook.

Napa Castro received medical examinations at the Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes Hospital in Paita, near the Peru’s border with Ecuador, and was discharged on Saturday, said the Ecuavisa, Affiliated TV da CNN.
