Governor of Rio de Janeiro spoke in act alongside former President Jair Bolsonaro
The governor of Rio de Janeiro, (PL), defended the approval of what grants amnesty to prisoners for involvement on January 8. “These people came for free to ask for amnesty now. Rio de Janeiro calls for Brazil: Amnesty already”Said Claudio Castro during act organized by the former president (PL) and supporters in Copacabana.
“Brazil does not need a political project for a small group, it needs for its people. I said this week that this government that is there has used innocent people arrested as a way to leave the militancy united”Castro said in criticism of the president (PT).
He also stated that his candidate for 2026 will be Jair Bolsonaro, who is for abuse of power and misuse of media.
In his speech at the time for the liberation of prisoners on January 8, which Lasted about 40 minutesBolsonaro said more parties support the agenda. “It’s not just PL no, there are good people in all parties, Kassab is by our side to approve the amnesty in Brasilia”he declared.
Prior to the former president’s speech, the PL leader in the House of Representatives, (RJ) said he will file an urgent request for the process of amnesty Bill in Casa Baixa. This request will be submitted on Thursday (20.mar) at the weekly meeting of the House Leaders College. Sostenes said the number of signatures in favor of the project will cause “surprise”.
Bolsonaro stated that after the amnesty January 8 will become a “Date to be forgotten”. According to the former president, only a minority will remember the date to try to get a narrative “Liar” on an attempt to coup d’etat on the right.

Act in Copacabana
The act is part of a mobilization to press Congress and the Supreme Court for the annulment of the penalties imposed on those involved in the extremist acts of January 8, 2023.
It is the 1st demonstration since the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) denounced former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for coup attempt.
The event was organized and funded by the evangelical pastor and longtime Bolsonaro ally, Silas Malafaia. It is the 3rd with the former president funded by the religious leader. He sponsored the acts of February 25 and September 7, 2024, on Paulista Avenue (SP).
