The doctor from São Paulo Tercio Genzine, specialist in Digestive Surgery at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP (Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo) and which has been dealing with patients in Acre for over 20 years, has performed hundreds of procedures in local patients, with liver transplants – which is why it was even object of tributes.
He used his social networks to honor one of his patients who not only survived, but now struggles to be a health professional also to combat disease. Genzine specializes with liver and pancreas operations, including benign diseases, oncology and transplants, with training in laparoscopic surgeries or videolaparoscopy (VLSC), surgical procedure done in the abdomen region and pelvis for diagnosis of disease, biopsies or even cyst removal.

In this condition, as he has done with thousands of acrean patients, the doctor has been contacting Daniel, born in Tarauacá, interior of Acre, whose history the Tertio Genzine himself made a point of telling on his social networks.
“This is the story of an Amazonian boy, who at birth, in 2001 in Tarauacá-Acre, suffered vertical transmission of hepatitis B and delta, a problem that occurs in childbirth when a mother-bearing mother makes no prenatal diagnostic or treatment and, at birth, the newborn does not receive hyperimmune globulin or hepatitis B vaccine, which could avoid this problem,” revealed the doctor.

Also according to the doctor, Daniel had two brothers and one of them also suffered from this problem.
“So young, at the age of eight, Daniel and his brother Maciel already had cirrhosis and all their complications. Daniel and his brother became orphans, as his mother could not resist the complications of cirrhosis. Still at the age of 8, Daniel underwent a liver transplant, as well as his brother, Maciel, soon after. And everything was going well, with recovered health and hope in the studies. But the Amazon is in a country called Brazil, and in this country, public safety does not exist! This is a country dominated by drug trafficking and politicians and a weak and conniving judiciary who agree with the crime… So, riding a bicycle, Daniel and Maciel were approached by criminals, and Maciel could not resist the injuries. Daniel continued! ”The doctor revealed.

Patient care Daniel continued.
“We always try to guide you and help you as much as possible, with school supplies and what it has always needed to complete the studies. Today he is 24 years old and is finishing high school. Daniel wants to be a nurse! Beautiful choice, from a profession that I admire so much. And in my coming here in Acre, helping Daniel to go to a nursing college is one of my goals… and I’m already looking for friends who can help, and fortunately Uninorte is opening the doors to be part of this story of resilience, resistance, effort and faith. Daniel is warned that the study is the best way and, to reach its goals, will have to study hard. Your health is great, your wonderful liver, it is already an adult who lives alone and takes care of his life. For candidates for girlfriends, I already told Daniel that they should expect, because the first marriage will be with the diploma! This is the history of a people who live in the Amazon. The world speaks of the forest, but forgets the forest people! ”Said the doctor.
It is for this behavior and its dedication to its acrean patients that Tercio Genzine has even been honored as one of the main responsible for the success and effectiveness of liver transplants in Acre. The tribute to the doctor, still in 2016, came from servants and patients from the Specialized Assistance Service (SAE), Hospital das Clínicas (HC).
“I have a lot of patients in Sao Paulo, but the relationship with acreans is different. Here there is an exchange of affection and welcome. I am very grateful to do what I like, ”said the doctor at the time.
At that time, in Acre, 14 liver transplants had already been done. Acre is the only state of the North Region active in this medical area and which has 100% positive result in the procedures performed.
“The average success in the country is 80%. Here in Acre we came across 100% transplants that worked, in which patients resumed the normality of their lives. This, no doubt, is something that should be celebrated, because it is the merit of state investments and dedication of the health team, ”said Tercio Genzine.
