The guide addresses the regular practice of physical activity in all life cycles – whether for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly – and reports on exercise recommendations and care for other specificities. Access the guide by clicking.

  • Academy of Health Program

The (Academy of Health Program) is a health promotion strategy, care production and healthy lifestyle for the population that is part of the health care network and seeks to ensure the integrality of care.

  • Financial incentive for costing physical activity

To implement physical activity actions in primary care, the Ministry of Health has instituted the financial incentive to cost physical activity actions. The objective is to offer physical activity actions in the APS, by hiring physical education professionals in health; the acquisition of consumer materials; and the qualification of environments related to physical activity. In addition to improving the care of people with noncommunicable chronic diseases.

The (Health School Program) is intended to contribute to the integral formation of students of the Public Basic Education Network through prevention, promotion and health care actions. • Multiprofessional teams

SUS has the formation of PHC. Composed of health professionals from different areas and categories, teams promote multidisciplinary care in different territories and strengthen articulations with other health equipment and other sectors (education, social service, culture, leisure, sports).

Physiotherapists and physical education professionals can integrate teams, strengthening the possibilities of care offered to the population that uses movement, body practices and physical activities as a therapeutic resource.

The sedentary lifestyle

Sedentary behavior is associated with increased fat accumulation, raising BMI values (body mass index), blood pressure, blood glucose and triglycerides, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and some types of cancers and cardiovascular disease. Time spent on the use of screens is also strongly related to the increased risk of development of these diseases.

Research data (surveillance of risk factors and protection for chronic diseases by telephone inquiry) show that between 2016 and 2023, there was a leap of the frequency of adults that spend 3 hours or more per day of free time with the use of screens, ranging from 61.7% in 2016 to 67.0% in 2023.

In February, the Ministries of Health, Development and Social Welfare, Family and Hunger Fighting and the Portuguese Government signed an agreement to strengthen healthy eating and obesity prevention.

The document considers the common challenges faced by both countries, such as obesity – alleviating childhood – food insecurity and the high prevalence of non -transmitted chronic diseases associated with unhealthy and sustainable eating systems and environments, which make it difficult to adopt healthy habits by the population.

Among the main initiatives planned, we highlight the holding of scientific events; the development of joint research; the exchange of experts and managers; the implementation of projects to evaluate the impact of public policies; the exchange of experiences on official guidelines and recommendations; In addition to sharing strategies aimed at the school environment and intersectoral governance of healthy eating.
