At least 18 people were killed and dozens were injured during the passage of heavy tornadoes and thunderstorms in central and southern United States, local authorities said.
Missouri’s state authorities have confirmed “11 deaths associated with the storms”, in a statement to X. In the neighboring state of Archasha, three people have lost their lives. The state was declared an emergency as young tornadoes are expected in the coming hours.
In the state of Texas, authorities announced that four people were killed in traffic accidents linked to sandstorms and fires that significantly reduced the visibility on the streets, as these meteorological conditions caused serious carboards.
Tornadoes are expected to hit the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee in the coming hours. According to meteorological forecasts, wind speed can reach 120 km/h.
