The Austrian government is unequivocally on the side of Ukraine. Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS) made this clear again last week in Kyjiw. The support for the country, which is contrary to international law, is not only passed on at a symbolic level. Vienna has every round of sanctions against Russia – and also, albeit indirectly, the EU military aid. Austria also helps very specifically, for example through the financing of humanitarian projects, the purchase of grain from Ukraine or the admission of refugees. Meinl-Reisinger at least does not rule out Austrian soldiers as part of a peace mission to Ukraine as part of a peace mission.
