Recipe of grandma’s workbook: potato meatballs

Do you want meatballs, but there is no memory at home after minced meat? Try this time to change the potato recipe. It is most likely you can find it in one of the workbooks that have carefully performed our grandmothers.

Potato meatballs used to be in some families a regular table. They are excellent, but also cheap and do not need too many raw materials. See how easy it will be to prepare a basic dough for them.

As a potato pancake

Who ever had a potato pancake actually won. The basic principle is almost the same. Grate peeled potatoes on a fine grater, place in a bowl and add more ingredients. It will be a little flour (I personally give a smooth and coarse in the same proportion), breadcrumbs and four prepared portions (4 larger potatoes) two eggs. Then it will be the spice, and this time it will not differ from the potato pancake. Mandatory salt and pepper, as well as garlic, marjoram and possibly a little cumin are great.

Wrap and fry

That’s all, now you will need to mix the dough well and possibly add some more loose ingredients to prepare the foundation for meatballs. The material should have the consistency of minced meat in order to prepare, or rather shape, meatballs. Once you have uniform buns, wrap them like ordinary meatballs or cuttings in a breadcrumbs. In the end, the hot oil in a deeper pan, which will complete a good work to a successful end.

What to serve with?

The meatballs are ready, but what should we serve when they are made of potatoes themselves? A good choice will be raw vegetables, salad or acidic cabbage. They will always taste famously. And what next? If you would like to try something a little different next time, you can cut a piece of soft salami or harder cheese into the small cubes. You get a little different every time, but always very good food for a few crowns. Can you get into it too?

Improve “Poor Food”

Another possible improvement in potato meatballs, which already, and we can face it, loses the hallmark of cheap food, will be smoked meat that we wrap in the dough. Smoked meat is ideal for these purposes because there is no need to bake them, as if it were necessary in the case of chicken meat. Smoked in short, in the meatball, it will warm up slightly and it will be enough. Although we are mostly looking for more legged meat, try to reach for a bolder piece this time. You will see that it will only benefit the food, because the warmed fat will soak up beautifully into the potatoes and move the whole meatball into a completely different dimension.

Potatoes belonged, belong, and will certainly be one of the basic foods that we always have at home. Do not be afraid to use them as much as possible.
