The City of Rio Branco, through the Municipal Secretariat of Education (Seme), informs that the return to classes in the municipal school system will take place next Monday, March 17, 2025.
The official opening of the school year will be held at the Center for Early Childhood Education (CEI) Olinda Bezerra da Costa, at 8am. In a note, the management explains details about the return, considering that some municipal schools are being used as shelters to assist those affected by the Acre River flood.

The City of Rio Branco, through the Municipal Secretariat of Education (SEME), informs the population and school community that the return to classes of the municipal school system is confirmed for this Monday, March 17, 2025. For the beginning of the work, the event scheduled for 8am on Monday, at CEI Olinda Bezerra da Costa, is maintained.
We clarify that, currently, the school year starts with 92.5% of the municipal schools; And with respect to school units in which classes cannot be resumed on this date, SEME clarifies that:
1- By way of information, the Maria Lúcia and Willy Viana schools are currently used as shelters, while the schools of Benfica, Chico Mendes, Carmelita and Ana Turan may be triggered via Civil Defense in case of increased increase in shelters. In these, the school year does not start this Monday;
2- The management of the Department of Early Childhood Education and the Department of Elementary School will hold meetings with the managers of these institutions to adjust the school calendar, ensuring that there is no harm to the school year;
3- The classes will be properly replaced, and the most appropriate way for this replacement will be defined in these meetings, together with the management teams of the affected units, and announced to the school community.
