It was the 1st International Trip of the who took office on March 14.

Unlike what is common among Canadian leaders, Carneary chose to visit Paris instead of Washington DC on her first visit to the forefront. The decision came after US President Donald Trump increased commercial tensions with Canada and Europe.

In an interview with journalists, Prime Minister and President Macron talked about the intention to build stronger commercial and defense ties between Canada and France, including in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Safety and Clean Energy. For Macron, Canada is a good example of a country that defends its national interests while collaborating on the global scenario.

Carney and Macron also remembered the strong relationship between Canada and France, marked by the common language and political similarities. The war in Ukraine was also a theme among the leaders. They declared “Ukrainian unshakable support” And the prime minister thanked the president for organizing Ukraine support meetings.

The Canadian Premier also reinforced the importance of finding “Reliable allies like France” And Macron stressed that they believe that “The fair trade that respects international rules is good for everyone’s prosperity and is certainly more effective than tariffs”.

After Paris, the former head of the Canada Bank and the Bank of England will visit London, where he will meet with Keir Stmerer (Labor Party, Center left), UK Prime Minister, and King Charles 3, who is also king of Canada.
