The governor of Minas Gerais, (Novo), published on Monday (17) on his social networks a phrase allegedly attributed to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill about humans to allow a “stupid lead the herd” in a comparison made with animals.
Despite not having cited the president (PT) directly in the publication, Zema has frequently used in recent weeks and public speeches to build one.
The governor seeks to cliff in the midst of the formation of a plate for the 2026 presidential dispute.
“The difference between humans and animals is that animals never allow a stupid to lead the herd,” says the governor’s post on a social network where he attributes the phrase to Churchill.
The quote does not appear in any of the pages of the book “Churchill by Himself: The Definitive Collection of Quotations” (the definitive collection of quotes, whose author, Richard Langworth, did the research in over 50 million words said by the British.
Asked to comment on whether the publication was aimed at the president, the governor’s advisory did not respond.
The publication of phrases attributed to historical characters is frequent in Zema’s networks and has already put him in controversies.

Two months later, he published a phrase from former US President James Madison that “democracy is the right of people to choose their own tyrant.”
The governor was involved in Lula’s last trip to the state two weeks ago. At the time, Zema criticized the number of ministers of the president, while Lula reproved and questioned the achievements in the state of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), whom Zema supported in the last elections.
