Allies of the former president have complained about the speed of judgment that can take him to jail, and compare with the process involving Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during Lava Jato.
The argument that the Supreme Court is being faster with Bolsonaro than then Judge Sergio Moro was with Lula is only partially true, however.
Lula was denounced by Lava Jato for the case of the triplex on September 14, 2016 – when he was convicted of Moro in the first instance on July 12, 2017, or 302 days later.
Bolsonaro was reported on February 18 this year, and the same break would lead his conviction to take place on December 16 by the STF, in the case of the alleged coup plot. There is a consensus, however, that the decision will be well before that, perhaps in August or September.
On the other hand, the early stages of the process ran much faster in the case of Lula.
Already involving Bolsonaro should be welcomed by the first class of the Supreme Court on March 26, or 37 days later.
