The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has arrived in Finland, where he plans to address tomorrow with his counterpart, prime minister and the defense, exterior and finance holders of the Nordic country negotiations for a high fire with Russia and the security guarantees that asks its partners.
In a message posted upon arrival in Finland, Zelenski has listed some of the issues he will deal with with his hosts. “Military support, investments in the Ukrainian Production of Weapons, European Integration of Ukraine. Finnish experience in the creation of a civil protection system and the construction of shelters. The reinforcement of sanctions against Russia and the coordination of efforts to end the war in a dignified way,” he wrote.
Regarding contacts with kyiv and Moscow that promotes the US to end the war, the Ukrainian president has opined that “Europe must be at the negotiating table” and has declared that “everything that concerns Europe’s security must be decided together with Europe.”
The Finnish presidency reported in a statement that Zelenski, who has traveled to Helsinki accompanied by his wife, Olena Zelenska, visits the country by invitation of his Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb, and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb. The Ukraine arrives in Finland while the president of the USA, Donald Trump, with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, which is expected to give a firm response to the proposal of Washington, already accepted by Ukraine, so that both parties declare a high fire of 30 days that allows the peace negotiations to advance.
According to the Finnish presidency, the visit will begin tomorrow with a welcome ceremony in the courtyard of the Helsinki presidential palace, where formal conversations focused on Finland’s support to Ukraine and measures to end the war of aggression of Russia will also take place. At a time when several countries led by the United Kingdom and France are weighing to send troops to Ukraine in case of an eventual high fire, Finland has ruled out. Stubb said day 2 in London that border countries with Russia, including Finland, will not send peace forces to Ukraine if the fire is reached, since their responsibility is to defend their own border, although he pointed out that they can contribute to peace otherwise. “United Kingdom and France have pledged to maintain some kind of presence of troops in Ukraine. But countries that share border with Russia have the responsibility of defending NATO on that border, so their contributions will be different,” he said. (EFE)
