12 members would have played a strategic role in the execution of the coup plan in 2022, according to the complaint
The Supreme Court (STF) minister, Alexandre de Moraes, authorized on Monday (17.mar.2025) the advance for judgment of the complaints involving the 3rd group of the alleged coup attempt, which was alleged under the leadership of the former president (PL) in the last moments of his administration. With the release of Alexandre de Moraes, it is now up to Minister Cristiano Zanin, president of the First Class of the Supreme Court, to define the date of the trial, as he is responsible for organizing the calendar of sessions of the board in charge of the case.
In February, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, and violation of the Democratic Rule of Law. To make the progress of the process more agile, it structured the accusation in 4 distinct groups.
The 3rd group, which now goes on for analysis, brings together 12 people who would have played a strategic role in the execution of the coup plan. According to the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), one of the methods employed was a public mobilization to press the high command of the Armed Forces to join the movement.
This is the 2nd time Moraes releases one of the groups for trial. The one pointed out as organizers of the plot, including Bolsonaro, former ministers and reserve military, such as Walter Braga Netto, Augusto Heleno and Paulo Sérgio Nogueira.
The judgment of this group, when the ministers of the 1st Class will decide whether the accused will become defendants and formally respond to a criminal action.
All accusations face charges of 5 crimes: attempted coup, violent attack on the democratic rule of law, participation in armed criminal organization, damage qualified by violence and serious threat against the union’s heritage, as well as the destruction of protected historical heritage.

- Fabrício Moreira de Bastos;
- Hélio Ferreira Lima;
- Márcio Nunes de Resende Júnior;
- Nilton Diniz Rodrigues;
- RAFAEL MARTINS DE OLIVEIRA;
- Rodrigo Bezerra de Azevedo;
- Ronald Ferreira de Araújo Júnior;
- Sérgio Ricardo Cavaliere de Medeiros;
- Wladimir Matos Soares.
